Rice2k Rainmeter Control Bar
A compact command bar with telemetry, launchers and power controls; local PowerShell helpers require review.
Rice2k puts desktop shortcuts, system readouts and power controls into a compact horizontal Rainmeter bar. Its creator preview uses example identity, IP and Wi-Fi labels. Treat those values and colored status bars as a demonstration, not a benchmark or evidence about your computer.
Controls and dependencies
The source lists CPU, RAM, disk, network, clock and uptime displays; shortcuts to applications, folders and Windows tools; and lock, sleep, sign-out, restart and power controls. Path variables such as ChromePath and DownloadsPath need to match the local machine. Scaling uses helper scripts and the minus, reset and plus controls rather than a normal application-window border.
The author targets Windows 10 or 11, Rainmeter 4.5 or newer, and Windows PowerShell 5.1 or newer. The bar includes local PowerShell helpers. Review the code before loading it; if Windows blocks a script, do not disable protections just to activate a widget.
Get the source and review actions first
Open Rice2k source and releases — creator page, not a direct installer. The README links an RMSKIN package and explains the editable INI and helper layout. Follow the Rainmeter package installation guide after reviewing requirements.
The FREE RAM action is described as trimming process working sets. That is not a promise of more usable memory or faster applications; it should not be the reason to choose a launcher bar. Power actions can interrupt work. Read their confirmation behavior in the source, save work first, and do not click controls merely to test an unfamiliar skin.
Choose it for the right job
For a narrower action panel, compare Power Controls or Minimal Shutdown. Rice2k adds telemetry and configurable paths, but also more dependencies. Back up edited variables using the customization and layout workflow.
Verification and preview credit
DeskSpruce read the creator documentation and verified the exact preview and source-page destination. No helper, INF or executable was run; no installation, malware or compatibility certification is implied. Creator: Rice2k. The tracked final-bar.png documentation image is covered by the repository MIT grant. It is resized and re-encoded as WebP for display; the original uses sanitized example details.
